dunmurderin: Deadpool from "I'm a Marvel, I'm a DC" saying "And boom goes the dynamite..." (And Boom Goes the Dynamite...)
I found out today (well, yesterday) that there is an ongoing Age of Apocalypse series that debuted in Uncanny X-Force and that has since moved on to its own book. The new series apparently follows the adventures of a group of bog-standard normal humans who have no mutant powers and who are fighting against the evil mutants of the AoA (err, yeah, things got bad again, oops...).

Title: No Exit
Author: Dunmurderin
Fandom: X-Men: Age of Apocalypse
Characters: Blink, Sabretooth
Rating: PG
Word Count: approximately 1,246 words
Summary: Sabretooth asks Blink for a favor.
Author’s Note: Story takes place in Marvel’s Age of Apocalypse (big frickin‘ surprise, I know). Events in this story are a novelization of pages 16, 18-19 of The Astonishing X-Men #2 (V.1), April 1995. Every piece of dialogue is taken from those pages and was originally written by Scott Lobdell; scene descriptions are based off artwork by Joe Madureira (pencils) and Dan Green and Tim Townsend (inkers).

Finished and posted an essay about the Age of Apocalypse and why I find the AoA Sabretooth and Wild Child a dreamy match over at superhero_muses and I am now kicking back 'cause I am dead of meta.

Seriously, that damn essay took for damned ever to finish and I'm still not sure I said everything I wanted to say or that I said what I did say right. And that's with the sucker being fifteen pages long (though one page is fic recs and another is footnotes, but still...)

Still, I done done it so I am pleased.

I reread Sabretooth: Death Hunt the other day 'cause I want to create AoA versions of Birdy and Graydon Creed. I like Birdy a lot -- she's a telepath that Sabretooth hired to help him deal with his murderous rages and she's hella cool. He treats her like crap but she holds her own against him. The series was written by Larry Hama and it's pretty obvious because some of the dialogue is over the top and heading through No Man's Land to be shot down by the German guns. But still, it's a fun romp and there are great moments. Like Sabretooth in a French restaurant (in Paris, no less, on the Eiffel tower, no less) in his ugly ass hairy-backed yellow footie pjs outfit and a dorky tie because the restaurant has a dress code and you can wear your footie pjs but you better have a tie, damnit.

Also, Birdy at one point carries a HUGE ASS GUN and also threatens Wolverine with a grenade.

But, back to the AoA, I want to put Birdy and Graydon Creed into an AoA fic so I can have Birdy running around with a big ass gun and survivalist yuppies ('cause Graydon Creed would totally be a survivalist yuppie complete with a wine cellar in his shelter -- just trust me, he would).

BTW, looked up survivalist yuppies and found out that it not only brings up hits but it brought up an essay that gave me the idea for the wine cellar in the shelter. Thank you real life, for being weirder than me. Otherwise, I was just going to base my ideas around an old TV movie I used to love about this city family that moves out to the woods to get back to the real authentic living experience and who realize that there are crazy folks living in the woods too and I think it was called "Roughing It".

Have I mentioned Exiles is awesome? It is. Morph is aweseome. Blink is awesome. TJ and Thunderbird and Mimic and Heather (especially Heather!) are all awesome. And Sabretooth is awesome. And hot. Also, Heather is hot and smart and she likes junk food. Oh, and Beak? Is awesome.

I went looking at FF.Net for an Exiles section and didn't find one, but I did find Marvel Zombies so I looked and I found this fic which is cool:
Foresight by Andrew Joshua Talon. Layla Miller in the Marvel Zombies 'verse -- how the girl who "knows stuff" reacts to the End of the World.

Title: Even A Broken Clock...
Fandom: Marvel Comics, Age of Apocalypse/Earth-295
Characters: Sabretooth
Word Count: Approximately 2082 words
Rating: a mild R
Warnings: features child endangerment.
Summary: Sabretooth fell out with Apocalypse when he tried to rescue a group of kids during the culling of Los Angeles; here's how that decision might have come about.
Author's Note: Takes place during the Age of Apocalypse, prior to events in the X-Men AoA one-shot story, "Man Bites Dog." Some of Sabretooth's background based on the Larry Hama miniseries, Sabretooth: Death Hunt and on the Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe: X-Men: Age of Apocalypse guidebook.

Title: The Thunder Rolls
Fandom: Marvel Comics, Age of Apocalypse/Earth-295
Characters: Sabretooth, Wild Child
Word Count: Approximately 1404 words
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Takes place after the events in the Marvel Ag of Apocalypse one-shot story “Man Bites Dog” (where Sabretooth and Wild Child first meet up, beat the crap out of each other for three days in a prison cell and then team up. And you thought YOUR fandom was kinky…
Author’s Notes: Written to satisfy my need for Sabretooth/Wild Child slash fic, though really, this fic could be read as going either way. What you absolutely need to know, if you’re not familiar with the AoA universe: AoA is essentially the Mirror, Mirror version of the Marvel Universe where everything has gone to hell, AoA Sabretooth is a good guy (having had a change of heart) and AoA Wild Child is a feral psycho who doesn’t/seemingly can’t talk. Oh, and Sabretooth walks him around on a chain.

Sometimes, they slash themselves...
