Date: 2007-01-31 12:12 am (UTC)The Consumer Goods/Military Hardware thing comes from, if I remember right, Five Faces of Darkness. As I understand the cartoon version of things, the Autobot/Decepticon labels didn't arise until much later. Or at least, that's the version of events I'm going by.
I'm not sure where the idea of buying or stealing back their fellow slaves comes from, other than Feet of Clay by Terry Pratchett and the idea of the golems buying themselves and their fellows free from slavery. That and the historical idea of slaves in the American South buying and/or "stealing" themselves and their families from their masters.
Kup being cross-trained serves the dual purpose of giving him an excuse for being a jack of all trades in some of my later fics and because I figure at this point, the Transformers are still struggling to build a society of their own.
The simple names are, likely, still a holdover from the Quints. More elaborate names, I'm betting, are a product of the TFs becoming their own beings, independent from the Quints.
Freight's crack...aww hell, Kup's gonna be refueling on the "No, really, I shagged Beta, THE Beta!" story for years to come.
Thanks on Beta. I likes her.
I'm not sure what Lifter was, I think he's likely Consumer Goods, but I'm not sure. What gave you the impression he's Military Hardware, outta curiosity.
