Actually being female would mean I'd have an easier time trying to write female characters, wouldn't you? I mean, I've been female for 36 years now. I've got experience with it. They say write what you know and I know being female.

But the ideas, they no come. *grumbles*

*also sends vibes*

Don't know if this is what's got you stuck for ideas, but the way I've approached my female OC is by not making "she's a girl" her primary characteristic. Rather, I've used the fact that she's female to affect how her primary characteristics come out. For instance, one of the biggest things about her personality is she's got (more than) a bit of a temper, but because she's (stereotypically in this regard) female she's more likely to express that temper by destroying you verbally than by punching you out. Or, if she's punching you out, she's telling you why she's punching you out. =D

*nodnods* That's what I'm trying for. In this case, the characters in question are Elita-1 and the female Autobots and I think the problem is, really, more a case of these being characters who aren't my *favorites* but ones I just have a passing interest. I can sit and knock out Combaticons or Pipes fics, no problem (comparitively) but Elita-1 just doesn't inspire me the same way. But, I'm working on it and one of the ways is by not treating her any differently than I would any other character.

Hopefully, it'll work.

Been there, done that. Always wrote male characters easier than female ones, though female ones have gotten easier over the years. I tend to make them either stereotypes, or no-nonsense types like I wish I was.
