From the Wikipedia article on "The A-Team":

"It was a guy's show. It was male driven. It was written by guys. It was directed by guys. It was acted by guys. It's about what guys do. We talked the way guys talked. We were the boss. We were the God. We smoked when we wanted. We shot guns when we wanted. We kissed the girls and made them cry... when we wanted. It was the last truly masculine show." -- Dirk Benedict on why the show was a 'guy show'

In two similar interviews in 2007, on the Dutch talk shows Jensen! and RTL Boulevard (both broadcast on May 11, 2007), Benedict remarked again that the A-Team was a guy show, and if it were remade today, it'd be a lot more feminine, and a more adequate naming would be "The Gay-Team".

Things like that are why I'm glad The A-Team in general and Dirk Benedict's character in particular are being slashed like promiscuous teenagers at Camp Crystal Lake's ill-fated "Beer, Pot and Premarital Sex Festapalooza".

And I hope somewhere out there, someone is slashing the original Starbuck like...like...like somebody who pissed Freddy off too.

I knew the show had problems when it was airing and George Peppard apparently wasn't much nicer to the lady who played Amy but this isn't the first time Mr. Benedict has gotten his manties in a twist about 'guy shows'.

Oh brother, what an ego. I guess playing Face wasn't that much of a stretch for him.

If it was such a guy show, why did so many girls and women watch it?

I'm sure he'd say in part because we were all attracted by the manly manness of the characters -- which is, I think, probably partly the case. But personally as a kid I didn't so much want to date the A-Team as to BE them.

Oh yeah, Dirk Benedict is a total ass.

And I'm pretty sure the original Starbuck is slashed something fierce in the old school BSG circles.

LOL! Is this perhaps why I can't remember seeing this man in any show or movie since? Bitterness, anyone?

Dirk Benedict @ IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0070767/) -- I was surprised to see he's been in a few things. Not a lot, but more than I'd expected to find.

Wow, that was a funny read.
I might not agree with him, but I give him credit for speakin' what's on his mind.
I wonder what his thoughts were on the female Starbuck.

IIRC, he whined like a grape about the fact that Starbuck had been made into a girl because Starbuck was a man, damnit!

And yeah, guy's entitled to his opinion and I'm entitled to think Murdock was a better scam artist than Faceman ever was. *G*
