I've been looking forward to this movie since we saw the preview during "Ghostrider." I didn't get to see "Shaun of the Dead" in the theatres, but when I watched it on DVD it cracked me seriously up, so I knew "Hot Fuzz" would be a treat. Besides, it's a British spoof of dumb American action movies and there's nothing I likes better than Britcoms and stupid action movies. This was like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup of movie-going goodness!
It was worth it. I'm definately buying this one on DVD when it comes out and I hope they do the same style of commentary track they did on "Shaun" because I want to catch all the references I didn't in the theatre. That and I missed some of the jokes since my ears are muffled thanks to a sinus infection that has also decided to take up residence under my right shoulder blade.
Ok, probably no real spoilers here, except that I think Nicholas Angel is a perfect humanized Red Alert -- always 'on duty', always looking closely at things and being occassionally frustrated by the fact that people around him aren't as willing to work as hard as he does. And more than willing to kick ass and take names when the need arises.
Alright, one spoilery thing: I like the fact that the movie didn't wrap up with Nick settling down with his girlfriend. And I'm disappointed that he and Danny didn't kiss, there I said it!
And now, I go to sleep because tmw I have jury duty. Bleah.
