Title: Road Trip

Prompt: Someone's playing the radio from "Writer's Book of Days" by Judy Reeves
Word Count: 240 words
Rating: G
Summary: the Joes are on a road trip
Author's Notes: Takes place during the first season of GI Joe Sigma 6. Prompt taken from the book "A Writer's Book of Days: A Spirited Companion & lively Muse for the Writing Life" by Judy Reeves. Prompt was for Feb. 21st.
Someone's playing the radio. It's faint, like it's muffled by earphones, but still loud enough that Duke can almost make out the words. He doesn't recognize the song, but that doesn't mean much since he hasn't listened to pop stations since he got out of training. If he listens to music, it's on CD.
He groans softly as he stretches in his seat, not entirely sure he wants to wake up.
"Where are we?" he asks.
"On I-75, somewhere about fifty miles north of the Tennessee border," Scarlett says, reaching up to pull the earbuds out of her ears. "You've been asleep since Berea, I figured you could use the rest."
Duke stretches again, reaching back to rub his kidneys. "Thanks," he says. "Yeah, I guess I did. How's everybody else?"
"Tunnel Rat and Heavy Duty are getting some rack time of their own; Snake-Eyes and the trainees are meditating." Scarlett ticks names off on her fingers as if they were bullet points. "Hi-Tech is doing something Star Trek on the mainframe; Spirit is waiting for us outside of Knoxville and Long Range is, as usual, doing the driving."
Duke nods, his eyes are dry and much as he hates to admit it even to himself, he's still groggy. "Think you can keep everybody in control until we meet up?"
"Not a problem," Scarlett says. "Rest up. Anybody gives me any trouble, I'll make 'em ride outside for a while."
