Vortex Weather II
Feb. 13th, 2007 04:15 pmWe made it in to work ok last night; nothing happened until close to midnight when it began to snow. Luckily, all it was until the time we went home was snow -- just a lot of it. I'd estimate about 2-3 inches, maybe a bit more.
Because the road reports from those coming in and those going home (people would call to let us know they made it home safe) were so bad, we decided to call off before we left work. That way, they know who won't be there and can plan accordingly.
Waking up today, I looked outside and the scene looked pretty pristine. Cars and yards covered in snow but no white-outs or anything like that. "Bugger," I thought. "Were we premature in calling in?"
So, I put my glasses on and still, nothing.
"Bugger!" I thought, partly disappointed that the weather seemed to have improved since I was looking forward to another 3 day weekend.
So, I come in and turn on my computer and sit down to geek out for a bit and as I'm sitting here, I hear tip-tip-tip-tip-tip on the window. "Ah-hah!" I think. "It's not snow, it's @#$@ sleet! It's sleeting! @#$@!"
Upshot: we're home safe and that's where we're staying.
