I stoled this meme! 2: Electric Boogalo
Feb. 6th, 2007 04:27 pmI stole this from Pitten:
Ask me why I 'ship something. Why I'm into any particular 'ship or even why I'm *not* into another ship? Ex: What is it you like about so-and-so or why don't you like so-and-so? (Basically just ask me to explain m'self about why I like something about a ship, or how I feel about anything in particular about a couple, etc.)
Alternately ask me the same thing about liking/disliking specific characters or general series.

Date: 2007-02-07 12:45 am (UTC)G1 Brawl/Swindle: is probably not going to happen, if only because the G1 Combaties just don't seem to want to hook up in any serious fashion. I've got a fic started about Brawl and Swindle and I may take another stab at it to see if I can make it gel, but by and large, Combaticon pairups seem to be pretty rare among them (in my 'verse, at least).
For some strange reason, though, this reluctance disappears when it comes to G1 Brawl being female, probably partly for the same reasons that make AEC Brawl and Swindle so damned amusing.

Date: 2007-02-07 01:25 am (UTC)Justifying the attraction led to me musing that some part of Blast Off's original programming inclined him toward an interest in off-world things -- this is presuming he'd been a shuttle prior to being boxed, which I do 'cause yeah, lazy that way. Being that he was a handhack, something got a little twisted and the interest turned into an attraction for aliens which in turn blossomed into a full-fledged philia, particularly once they were reawakened on Earth.
The idea of him being attracted to a green-skinned, four-armed alien came from wanting to do something different than the usual TF/human pairing that you see. Even the aliens most commonly attracted to TFs tend to look more or less exactly like humans do, so I figured it was time to toss a bastardized Edgar Rice Burroughs Green Martian into the mix.
The other Combaties, I figure, do not know of Blast Off's 'affliction' -- though it's likely that Onslaught suspects. Brawl would just be disgusted and Swindle and Vortex would tease Blast Off unto death over it. Because, ewww squishies!

Date: 2007-02-07 09:59 am (UTC)Originally, when that fic was written, Pipes and Huffer weren't a couple. Pipes was just doing something nice for Huffer because he felt sorry for the other minibot. That and I thought there was a nice contrast between Huffer's dislike of Earth and Pipes's affection for Earth gadgetry. Since Huffer wouldn't be interested in anything found on Earth, Pipes had to have found him something from Cybertron That Was.
When I decided to go for it and do the 28 memes challenge, I figured I'd keep writing Pipes and the first meme that was picked was "Well-Shagged Pipes" (http://dunmurderin.livejournal.com/894.html?thread=1406#t1406). Huffer and Pipes were still in my head and I figured what the heck put the two of them together.
After "Tokens" and "Well-Shagged Pipes" came Cold Comfort (http://www.geocities.com/dunmurderin/coldcomfort.html) which pretty much solidified Huffer/Pipes in my head and also created the Huffer/Gears pairing.
Basically, I wrote about Huffer and Pipes because I got tired of seeing Minibots ignored in many fanfics except as cute sidekicks or comic relief and I wanted to write them as characters in their own right.
