Dear CW, again...
Jul. 23rd, 2010 12:57 amLook, maybe it's the fact it's hotter than hell and my sinuses are apparently trying to eat their way out of my face but we've got problems.
I already told you, I couldn't stand Life Unexpected, though to be fair I never watched the show and judged it entirely on the premise.
But, at least the ads for Life Unexpected have stopped so I can ignore that stupid show.
'Course, now you're back with a double-barreled attack of not one but TWO stupid shows that you run ads for on almost every commercial break. Plain Jane which seems to be all about some lady showing up and teaching women how to change their hair and makeup so they can win over their secret crush!
I could forgive you for this since the women are volunteering for this and hey, people do have every right to create themselves in whatever way they see fit. Besides, it's not like I'm gonna watch this show but maybe you'll do something where the "Plain Jane" is made up in something other than the usual fashions. Or her secret crush is, I dunno, another girl or something crazy and non-heteronormative like that.
But then there's Hellcats which is all about some bitchy girl who hates cheerleaders ('cause y'know, cheerleaders are all evil, shallow, brainless girls) but who has to become a cheerleader in order to get a college scholarship so she can get an education. Oddly enough, the thing I hate about these ads is the main character who I'm guessing I'm supposed to find...what? Rebellious? Clever? An independent, freethinking woman?
Hellcats is based off Cheer!: Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders. The book looks worth a look, the show...not so much.
But that might be the sinuses talking. And the heat. And the lack of cable.
