I just posted 1112 words for my answer to this prompt so I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes to ramble a bit :) The President's Vampire and the Secret History of the Pink Carnation sound intriguing :) I have read some of the Scarlet Pimpernel stories and managed to make a side reference during my own post for this prompt; Pimpernel is such an influence on the genre as a whole though it's not that well known these days. Maybe we need a new TV adaption or movie of Pimpernel or maybe of the Pink Carnation which would generate interest for both canons :)
